2008 Mississippi Clogging Extravaganza

Elaine Bender, Certified Clogging Instructor

Elaine has an extensive background in teaching and dance performance, and is currently the Clogging Director of the Bruce Lea Dance Factory in Fort Worth. She began dancing professionally at age 15, studying ballet, jazz and tap locally and abroad. Her dance career includes opening acts for musical celebrities such as the Dixie Chicks, as well as theater, television, and video performances.

Since her introduction to clog dancing over 20 years ago, Elaine has become devoted to the study and teaching of clogging, and her enthusiasm has made her a popular teacher with students of all ages. She has received numerous awards for choreography and performance. Elaine’s competition teams won national titles in the Showstoppers American Dance Championships in 2006 and 2007. Her dancers were included in a live broadcast and a video filming of “Top Dance Groups in the U.S.”

Currently, Elaine teaches 11 studio classes a week to children ages 7 and up, teens, and adults of all ages, as well as her competitions teams. She teaches at workshops in Texas, and is a national instructor at a variety of conventions in other states. Additionally, she is a regular guest instructor for several area high school dance and drill teams.

Elaine is a member of the Texas Clogging Council and C.L.O.G., the National Clogging Organization of America. She is active in the Certified Clogging Instructor educational program, and will be teaching at the 2008 National Clogging Convention to take place Thanksgiving week in San Diego, California.

Adriana Heindl
Byram, Mississippi
Adriana is originally from Brazil. She moved to Clinton, Mississippi, in 1990. She began dancing at the age of 14 and has not stopped dancing since then.

During her high school years, she danced with Mississippi Ballet Theater and Ballet Magnificat!. She continued her dance studies at Belhaven College as a Ballet Major where she performed with the Belhaven Ensemble. She danced in various ballets including Cinderela, Gloria, Les Sylphides and Swan Lake.

After college Adriana began teaching. She has taught for seven years around the Jackson Metro area. Currently, she is the owner/director of Dance Works Studio in Byram.

Adriana has two beautiful daughters, Annelise and Kali, who also dance, and she is married to her favorite guy, Paul Heindl.
